2024 Vehicle Reservation Requirements for Glacier National Park

A vehicle reservation for the west entrance to the Going-to-the-Sun Road, North Fork and Many Glacier entrances will be required for much of the summer. Read on for an overview of the reservation requirements and how to best navigate the system for your stay on the east side of Glacier. Please visit nps.gov for detailed information.

Overview:

  • You will need a vehicle reservation for the West Glacier entrance to the Going-to-the-Sun Road and the Northfork from May 24th - September 8th.

  • Reservations will be required from July 1st through September 8th for Many Glacier.

  • Reservations will be required between the hours of 6 am & 3 pm.

  • A portion of vehicle reservations will be available online 120 days or approximately four months in advance, starting on January 25, 2024, at 8 am MST on a daily rolling basis.

  • Next Day vehicle reservations will be available online at 7 pm MDT for next-day entry starting on May 23, 2024 on a daily rolling basis.

  • All reservations are valid for one day and cost $2.

East Side Information:

  • You will NOT need a vehicle reservation to enter the Going-to-the-Sun Road through the eastern entrance (St. Mary) this summer. This is a change from previous summers.

  • The Two Medicine, Belly River & Cut Bank entrances also have no vehicle reservation requirements.

Helpful Tips:

  • Entrances with vehicle reservation requirements can be accessed prior to or after the 6 am - 3 pm reservation window.

  • Visitors with a service reservation within the specified reservation areas can use proof of their reservation for entry instead of a vehicle reservation to gain access. For example, you could book a boat tour with Glacier Park Boat Co or a guided hike with Glacier Guides in Many Glacier to provide access to the valley for the day of your service reservation.

  • We recommend that you register for an account with recreation.gov in advance of when you will be applying for your vehicle reservation and familiarize yourself with the booking process. While there, purchase your park pass to save time at the entrance station. If preferred, you can also download their app.

  • Be prepared to book at 8 AM MST on the day your desired reservation is released. If you’re in need of multiple reservations, try dividing the attempts to reserve between your traveling companions.
